FIRST WEDNESDAY GALLERY TALK
A Memento for the Qianlong Emperor: The Myriad Delights of Lake Shi
Join us in Singer Hall in Phoenix Art Museum’s Administration Building for Asian Arts Council member Bill Howard’s discussion of an eleven-page album made for the 18th-century Qianlong emperor to commemorate his visits to Lake Shi.
Learn about the album’s history, a topographic analysis of the views, and some questions that remain unanswered.
Bill Howard is an independent researcher who became interested in Asian art during his service in Japan and Korea as a Korean translator for the US Air Force. He has assisted Museum curators in cataloguing the Papp Collection of Chinese paintings.
TALK IS FREE with admission to the museum.
Please join us afterwards for lunch at Palette, the museum café ($20 including tax and tip).
